thanks a lot for your explaination of how to use deep litter. 
I am quite a beginner and would like to adopt it with this new kind of hpl laminate hen house....do you think it is too small and will the ventilation be enought through the holes on top? 
I was considering to mix compost with the dry litter called miscanthus (also used for horses).
 
I am adding this link here, not for anything but so you may see the hen house I am talking about and hope it will be ok :) otherwise pls feel free to remove it of course.
